Abstract

Title:Determination of cross sections for nuclear reactions $^{12}$C(e,e') and $^{40}$Ca(e,e')
Abstract:
In my thesis work I study the properties of nuclei $^{12}$C and $^{40}$Ca through the analysis on experimental data of inclusive cross-section measurements provided by Collaboration A1 in 2021 at the Institute for Nuclear Physics of Johannes Gutenberg University. In the introduction I present physical background and motivation behind the conducted research which is followed by the outlining of the measured physical quantities. The chapter Theoretical background contains explanations and simple derivations for the simplistic phenomenological models of the studied nuclear reactions between electrons and nuclei. Experimental data are analysed with the Cola++ analysis package with the end product being the inclusive cross sections for elastic and inelastic scattering. The final results are then compared with theoretical models and existing measurements.

Keywords:cross-section, elastic scattering, quasielastic scattering, neutrino oscillations, MAMI
