In my thesis I focus on three dramas by the Slovenian author Ivo Svetina, namely Beauty and the Beast or What Happened to Danica D., Oedipus in Corinth and Gardens and the Dove. In the theoretical part, I first present the author and his dramatic work which with its original poetics occupies a special place in Slovenian drama. I present the basic psychoanalytic starting points with the help of which I analyse the relationships between the characters in the drama. The central part is devoted to the analysis of the plays, where I provide a brief overview of each play and compare it to the literary source or the thematic premise, highlighting the main differences and information needed for interpretation. I focus on the characterization of persons and analysis of relationships, and finally I try to analyse the causes of specific relationships with the help of psychoanalysis. I focus mainly on the parent-child relationship. In all three dramas, we see dysfunctional relationships between family members, which are the result of excessive attachment, concealment of the truth or even perverse love. Drama characters face internal conflicts, which they solve in different ways, and they are either successful or unsuccessful.
