Viticulture has a very long tradition and great cultural importance in France. There are big differences between individual wine-growing regions, which add challenges and characteristics to production and enable the geographical origin of the final product - wine. Production is this influenced primarily by physical-geographical factors such as: climate, soil composition, relief barriers, geographical latitude and natural phenomena (frosts, storms, etc.). Anthropogenic influence is also a deciding factor regarding the care of the vines and cultivation methods in the wine cellars. All of the above contribute to the added value of wine.
The aim of the thesis was firstly geographical analysis of viticulture in France. Secondly, the aim was to introduce the most represented and widespread grape varieties and to describe their growing conditions.
