Abstract
Namen: Namen diplomskega dela je s sistematičnim pregledom literature predstaviti novo generacijo 3D SPECT/CT sistema, in sicer njegovo zgradbo, delovanje in primerjavo z že obstoječimi SPECT/CT aparati. Metode dela: Pri pisanju diplomske naloge smo uporabili deskriptivno metodo dela in sicer sistematični pregled literature. Razprava in zaključek: Na podlagi raziskav smo ugotovili, da nova aparata 3D SPECT/CT Veriton in StarGuide predstavljata pomemben napredek v diagnostiki in terapiji različnih bolezni.

Title:The role of 3D SPECT/CT imaging system : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: SPECT/CT hybrid system is a new diagnostic tool in nuclear medicine imaging, providing both functional and anatomical images, allowing accurate attenuation correction of SPECT images. Advances in digital technologies are now rapidly replacing older analogue techniques and cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) detectors are now being used. Recently, in addition to the revolution in detectors, there has also been a leap towards modified device designs 360° 3D SPECT/CT. Purpose: The aim of this diploma work is to present a new generation of 3D SPECT/CT systems, mostly it's structure, operation and comparison with existing SPECT/CT devices, by means of a systematic review of the literature. Methods: In this diploma work, we used a descriptive searching method, namely a systematic literature review. We selected different articles and researches in Slovenian language and English, as well as in French and Polish, which we have obtained from various databases on the internet. The systematic literature review was happening from November 2022 to April 2023. Results: All of the chosen studies, have shown that the new 360° 3D SPECT/CT systems have increased sensitivity of tomographic counts, spatial resolution and shorter acquisition times, while still keeping optimal image quality. However, in terms of accuracy in predicting diagnoses, they do not differ from the previous systems. Discussion and conclusion: Based on our research, we have concluded that the new Veriton and StarGuide systems represent a significant advance in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases detectable by SPECT/CT imaging. Their only negative side is the high cost of purchase and maintenance. Due to their advantages compared to conventional SPECT/CT systems, they can help to make a more accurate diagnosis and improve the quality of treatment.
