Abstract

Title:Conservation-restoration of polychrome wood Putto on volute from Posavje Museum Brežice
Abstract:
The BA thesis titled Conservation-restoration of polychrome wood Putto on volute from Posavje Museum Brežice, discusses a conservation-restoration treatment of an artwork that was carried out at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Conservation and Restoration of Artworks. The smaller scale figure had undergone several previous interventions, so the goal of the conservation-restoration treatment was to improve the aesthetic presentation of the artwork. Some parts of the paint layer were still unstable and since the color layer was matte and therefore more problematic, I focused on this topic and the selection of materials. After stabilizing the paint layer, we were able to continue with other steps, which included cleaning, removing unsuitable materials, filling of the missing gesso ground and retouching. Throughout the work, we considered ethical principles in all decisions, materials, and interventions.
