As part of our diploma thesis, a video game called "Canvas Explorer" was developed. The purpose of the diploma thesis was to explore the legal and regulatory challenges that arise during the development and distribution of video games, and to create a video game that complies with ethical and legal guidelines. This is particularly important as the video game industry is rapidly expanding, and developers are constantly facing new challenges and dilemmas. The initial development process involved designing the assets used, such as backgrounds, gameplay elements, characters, and music, which were then programmed to create the entire functionality of the video game. The goal of the thesis was to present the video game as a completed project. Unity was used as the game engine, and the code was written in the C# programming language using Visual Studio Code. In addition to developing the video game, the research methodology included a literature review, case studies, and an analysis of the video game market. This analysis identified elements and features of successful and popular video games for potential use in the project. Some assets used in the video game were borrowed from another author, and appropriate permissions were obtained for their use in accordance with copyright and related rights legislation. The literature review also included an examination of the PEGI system for age ratings on video games, which was used to assign appropriate age and content labels to the video game. The diploma thesis represents a significant contribution to the video game industry, particularly in Slovenia. By developing a video game that adheres to legal and ethical frameworks, it promotes responsible and sustainable practices in the video game industry and contributes to a positive impact on society.
