Abstract

Title:Analysis of passive damping of a torsionally mounted beam with two damping masses
Abstract:
Mechanical vibrations in various mechanical systems, such as machinery, structures, and vehicles, are often undesirable. These vibrations can lead to reduced system efficiency, increased wear of components, and even failure or breakage of structures. Therefore, damping these oscillations is crucial for better performance and reliability of mechanical systems. In recent times, technologies to reduce vibrations, including active and passive vibration dampers, are being intensively researched and applied. This thesis focuses on using a model with one or two masses on a spring for passive damping of a beam subjected to harmonic disturbance. The aim of this work is to investigate the impact of additional masses on springs in the system for passive vibration damping. The study strives to understand how these additional elements affect the response compared to a system without these elements. We also aim to compare systems with one or two damping masses and determine under what conditions they operate, as well as identify the advantages and disadvantages of using these systems for vibration damping.
