Abstract
Magistrsko delo sistematično analizira razsežnosti učinkovitosti mirovne operacije Združenih narodov v Liberiji imenovane UNMIL. Pri tem predstavi razvoj mirovnih operacij, vključno s tipologijo ter prek analize izbranih avtoric in Organizacije Združenih narodov obravnava ključne vidike uspešnosti te misije. Magistrsko delo predstavi dejavnike nastanka konfliktov v zahodnoafriški regiji. V študiji primera se predstavi prej vzpostavljena posredovanja mednarodne skupnosti v Liberiji, poglavje pa se zaključi z zadnjim posredovanjem – misijo Združenih narodov v Liberiji UNMIL. Omenjena misija, ki je predmet tega magistrskega dela, znotraj študije primera predstavi pravno podlago za nastanek te misije in analizira sestavo misije skozi leta, vse od njenega nastanka v letu 2003 do njenega konca leta 2018. V jedru študije primera pa magistrsko delo, na podlagi vidikov uspešnosti tujih avtorjev ter organizacije Združenih narodov, analizira ali je omenjena misija Združenih narodov lahko obravnavana kot uspešna ali neuspešna misija, kjer pa se predstavi tudi povode za omenjeno trditev. V zaključku magistrsko delo odgovori na raziskovalno vprašanje na podlagi predstavljene teorije ter analize študije primera ter se dotakne prihodnosti Liberije glede na trenutno situacijo v zahodnoafriški regiji.

Title:Aspects of successful peacekeeping operations and mission - the analysis of UNMIL (Liberia) : magistrsko delo
Abstract:
The Master's thesis systematically analyzes the dimensions of the effectiveness of the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Liberia called UNMIL. In doing so, it presents the development of peacekeeping operations, including a typology, and through an analysis of selected authors and the United Nations, discusses key aspects of the success of this mission. The master's thesis presents the factors of the emergence of conflicts in the West African region. The case study presents the previous interventions of the international community in Liberia, and the chapter concludes with the most recent intervention - the United Nations Mission in Liberia, UNMIL. The aforementioned mission, which is the subject of this master's work, presents the legal basis for the creation of this mission within the case study and analyses the composition of the mission over the years, from its creation in 2003 until its end in 2018. In the core of the case study, the master's work, based on aspects of the success of foreign authors and the organization of the United Nations, analyses whether the mentioned mission of the United Nations can be considered as a successful or unsuccessful mission, where the reasons for the mentioned claim are also presented. In conclusion, the master's thesis answers the research question based on the presented theory and case study analysis and touches on the future of Liberia in relation to the current situation in the West African region.
