Abstract

Title:Production and Business models of 3D printed clothes and accessories
Abstract:
The purpose of our work was to explore the current utilization of 3D printing in the fashion industry, including its possibilities, advantages, and limitations in both production and business. In the theoretical portion, we examined the historical development of 3D printing, along with the various materials and technologies involved. Additionally, we analyzed modern business models that are part of the ongoing digital transformation. In the experimental portion, we created earrings and documented the process from sketch to the final 3D printed product. We also obtained a 3D model of a cloth from the well-known fashion designer and printed it on a professional 3D printer. As part of this, we tested a blockchain-based business model utilizing non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Our findings suggest that while 3D printing technology in the fashion industry shows promise, it is still in the early stages of development and not advancing as rapidly as previously predicted. Furthermore, modern business models are still relatively complex, making them inaccessible to many consumers. Despite these limitations, it will be interesting to observe future developments in both technologies and business models, particularly within the metaverse, where digital and physical worlds merge.
