The thesis presents the main advantages and limitations of organic vegetable production in the municipality of Komen. According to the statistical data collected from various official websites of the Republic of Slovenia, the municipality devotes about ten percent of its area to agricultural production. The municipality of Komen is an area with difficult conditions for agricultural production, where among other things, drought is a major challenge. Farmers are therefore forced to choose less demanding crops in their range of agricultural products, which are not so affected by the higher temperatures. Besides these include herbs and medicinal plants, which bring farms additional income. Due to the extensive agriculture that is prevalent in the area, organic farming makes sense as this type of agriculture is characterized by having less impact on the environment through more sustainably oriented measures. This allows for the preservation of biodiversity and the area's distinctive features. As an example of good agriculture practice, the 'Brinjevka'- organic farm is presented, which functions as a social enterprise and employs people at high risk of unemployment. The successful operation of the farm is an indicator of an appropriate approach that allows the production of high-quality organic products even in the Karst.
