Abstract

Title:Analysis of oxygen formation reaction mechanism at the water electrolysis
Abstract:
Hydrogen in its purest form can be obtained by water electrolysis, which is currently highly energy-intensive, for the lack of suficciently quality catalysts. Foremostly problematic is the reaction of oxygen formation, which takes place in several steps. In this thesis, it will be studied in detail, which elementary surface processes determine the rate of oxygen formation at different electrode potentials. On this basis, several possible ways of accelerating this important multistep reaction will be proposed.

Keywords:electrolysis of water, oxygen evolution reaction, elementary process
