Due to high demand for integrating solar power plants into low voltage distribution
networks, the question arises why electricity distributors limit the capacity of
the new connected generation units. The thesis is based on an analysis of conditions
at a selected connection point and subsequently in the low voltage network,
where a solar power plant with excessive installed capacity is integrated. The
analysis provides a detailed examination of some of the most important voltage
quality parameters that have a negative impact on the quality of electric power
for consumers when solar power plants are connected. The evaluation of the
analyzed parameters is based on the SIST EN 50160 standard, which describes
voltage characteristics in public distribution networks. To facilitate the understanding
of the analysis, the thesis also presents the electric power system and
its operation, the SIST EN 50160 standard, the operation of solar power plants,
and instructions for connecting and operating generation units in the low voltage
distribution network.
