There is no humanity beyond life and this humanity emphasises human freedom. The most vital feature of our life is vital in the ethical sense, affirming life together with the world itself. This mode of existence is decidedly oriented towards that quality which, according to Kocbek and in resemblance to the contemporary, post-metaphysical spirit, sees birth as stronger and more tenacious than death. Rather than swearing on the next world and staring at the absolute certainty of death, this new postmetaphysical metaphysics is an affirmation of life. The article clearly emphasises that Kocbekćs notion of metaphysics evinces a patent turn in life, which transforms the univocity of death into the polyvalence of life. With its power of self-revitalisation, life thus retains its immortality.
