Abstract

Title:Use of flight simulator for training the use of radio navigation aids
Abstract:
The thesis presents navigation using ADF, VOR, DME and ILS radio navigation aids and RNAV navigation methods. Using the flight simulator of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, we demonstrated various navigation methods using the aforementioned radio navigation aids and methods, such as tracking to and from VOR and NDB, intercepting courses and radials, performing the holding procedure, approaches using radio navigation aids, etc. We have prepared an exercise, consisting of a set of basic exercises and one complex exercise, in which students will learn about radio navigation in a more experimental way with the help of a flight simulator. The exercise was prepared in line with the learning objectives of ATPL syllabus and learning objectives of KSA 100.

Keywords:flight simulator, radionavigation, automatic direction finder, VHF omnidirectional radio range, distance measuring equipment, instrument landing system
