Abstract
Diplomsko delo obravnava baladni žanr z vidika njegovega kronološkega razvoja, nastanka oz. izvora in razvoja. Ker balado predstavljamo kronološko, bomo segli še v dobo po Aškercu, in sicer bo predstavljeno baladno pesništvo Janeza Menarta, Svetlane Makarovič in Borisa A. Novaka. Aktualno baladno pesništvo bo podrobneje nakazano z analizo Novakove zadnje pesniške zbirke Svoboda je glagol.

Title:Ballad
Abstract:
The thesis discusses the ballad genre in terms of its chronological development, origin and evolution. The characteristics of both folk and art ballads are presented, supported by analyses of individual ballads. The development of the ballad on Slovenian soil and its typologisation are discussed in detail, followed by Lenora and its translations. Since Prešeren modelled his poetry on it when he wrote Povodni mož, which is the first artificial ballad on Slovenian soil, we present his ballad poetry in more detail. The so-called realistic ballad, pioneered by Aškerc, is presented, and the modern ballad is discussed below. Since we present the ballad chronologically, we will also go back to the era after Aškerc, and will present the ballad poetry of Janez Menart, Svetlana Makarovič and Boris A. Novak. Current ballad poetry will be further indicated by an analysis of Novak's latest collection of poems, Svoboda je glagol.
