Abstract

Title:Automation of tube calibration operation in small batches with high product variability
Abstract:
Due to the increasing variability of products on the market, the use of flexible and variable systems that can be quickly adapted to produce a new type of product is key in the automation of companies with small and medium-sized batches. The investment in such systems needs to be cost-justified due to the production of small batches. In the Master's thesis, a time and cost analysis of the existing process is carried out, as well as a methodology of research and determination of the appropriate level of automation is presented. A solution for automating the tube calibration operation is designed and a physical prototype is built for the purpose of testing and finding potential improvements. It turns out that for a certain batch size, collaborative way of working is the most time- and cost-effective, where the process operations are divided into the work of the operator and the robot within the robot cell.
