When managing projects, there are numerous software tools available today that aim to simplify the work and provide the user with a more detailed insight into the project. This, in turn, enables better control and management of the project. If one were to use an established software tool like Microsoft Project, additional financial resources would be required, which might not be available to many smaller companies or individuals.
In the final assignment, a comparison will be made between the paid Microsoft Project software and three free alternatives. The same GreenHub system implementation project will be carried out on all these platforms. The research hypothesis posed in the assignment is that the project can be predominantly executed using free software tools. It is assumed that free tools have certain shortcomings. The goal of the assignment will be to highlight the shortcomings of the free tools and determine to what extent they are still practically usable for project management. To precisely define and confirm the hypothesis, the tools will be compared using the House of Quality as part of the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. Research methods including compilation, description, and the deductive method will be used to confirm or reject the posed hypothesis.
