The present thesis shows the main characteristics of the linguistic style of Mexican writer Laura Esquivel, which are shown through a linguo-stylistic analysis. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical work. In the first one, we defined the theoretical starting points of the linguistic research, while in second, an analysis of the first two chapters is performed, which presents the main characteristics of the writer's style. We analyzed the lexical and textual levels of the novel. In the lexical, the emphasis is mainly on the stylistically marked words, phraseology, mexicanisms and the language of different social classes. We also focused on the literary aspect and analyzed various tropes and rhetorical figures that appear during the analyzed chapters. At the textual level, the focus is on the verb tense and voice and on the structure of the novel itself – the author has innovatively combined fiction with non-fictions, as in the novel a lover story is intertwined with recipes of traditional Mexican dishes.
