This article deals with questions of genre movements, intertextual links between folk ballad and dramatic text, and content transformations of folk songs based on analysis of selected dramatic plays by authors who have for their spiritual and intertextual antecedent taken Slovene folk ballad. The article further examines the application of texture and folk context in literature, the performative function of the text on stage, the modifications of the original stage play, and the role of the song in the text or folk ballad in the drama in its syncretic form of text and melody.
