Abstract

Abstract:
The paper presents different conceptual visions of how, after changes in the global world order over the last twentythree years, the idea of a national response and how it is reflected in drama (and thus in the theatre) in Slovenia and Bulgaria through the mode of identity. The author traces the main socio-cultural stereotypes in both countries and their transformations in the theatrical space and considers also the question of how far the national and international canon interacts and how far they compete each other in the shaping of our modern identity.

Keywords:dramaturgy, canon, performance, national identity, Bulgarian theatre, Slovene theatre
