Abstract
*Opomba: V diplomskem delu omenjen izraz »strokovni delavec/delavci« označuje vzgojitelja in pomočnika vzgojitelja v vrtcu.

Title:Monitoring the Child's Motor Development in the Preschool Years
Abstract:
The aim of this paper was to analyse views of preschool teachers on monitoring children's motor development in the preschool period and on whether it is reasonable to introduce the physical education report (now referred to as SLOfit) into preschools across Slovenia. The research comprised 98 randomly selected preschool teachers and assistant preschool teachers working in Slovenian preschools. The online survey was made using the online 1ka survey platform, and the survey was filled in anonymously and voluntarily. The questions were divided into two sections. The first section comprised questions associated to gender, length of service and current education level in preschool (preschool teacher or assistant preschool teacher). The second section comprised questions aiming to obtain information on whether it was reasonable to introduce the physical education report into preschools across Slovenia and whether these preschools fulfil appropriate conditions to introduce the said programme. In addition, we asked professional workers based on what they currently plan motor activities and using what measuring instruments they monitor motor effectiveness of children in preschools. We determined that, on average, professional workers agree with the introduction of the physical education report into preschools across Slovenia and that conditions in their preschools are appropriate to monitor children’s motor development in the preschool period, e.g. large enough asphalt surfaces, benches, mats, a stadiometer, etc. Furthermore, we determined that professional workers plan motor activities using a monthly programme and that they mostly are not familiar with monitoring motor development or do not have time to do it. The majority believes that they do not have appropriate devices to monitor children's motor development, thereby denying the first statement regarding appropriate conditions. *Note: The term „professional workers“ used in this paper designates preschool teachers and assistant preschool teachers.
