The topic of the master thesis is an epistemological study of the covid-19 vaccine denialism. As the topic is about the acceptance of scientific knowledge, a different conceptualization of Gaston Bachelard's epistemological barriers is at the forefront of the research. Therefore, a set of »external epistemological barriers« that most clearly contributed to the vaccine refusal of the participating respondents is presented in relation to the analysis of the semi-structured interviews. In relation to the rejection of the covid-19 vaccination, the trend towards a loss of trust in Western (medical) science and the phenomenon of simultaneous recourse to alternative sources of treatment are also highlighted. Drawing on the reflections of Paul Feyerabend and Vandana Shiva, the importance of incorporating alternative knowledges is emphasized, along with the need to maintain objectivity and verifiability in the incorporation of new knowledge.
