The discussion points to some striking tendencies in the reception of Slovene literature in Slovakia. Based on reflection on contemporary prose from the point of view of literary studies and criticism, both certain universals and specific tendencies of non-domestic reception may be observed. A significant role in creating the image of a foreign literature abroad is played by cross-cultural mediators, including experts, selectors and translators, performing a direct and unique canonisation, thus contributing to the popularisation of a literature in a foreign environment.
