The article focuses on the transformation of the antique mythological character Medea in the libretto by Vinko Möderndorfer: Medea: A Musical Drama from Everyday life2 in comparison with Euripides’ tragedy Medea, which is the first among all mythological versions to problematize a deliberate filicide. Attention is primarily focused on the story, time period and purpose, the theme of filicide, the role of the male character and the woman as a carrier of demonic and divine characteristics.
