Successful farming and animal husbandry is greatly influenced by the quality of the hay with which we feed them, as well as the optimal production, transport and storage of hay as much as possible in terms of time and thus also financially. The utilization of the machine and its attachments is also important. Therefore, in the diploma thesis, we analyze how the individual shape or type of bale affects the optimization of hay preparation. When analyzing, we calculated and weighed the individual bales weights and sizes of the bales and compared them with each other. The results of calculations and comparisons showed that the optimization of hay production largely depends on the type and size of the farm that uses these machines. Even if a particular shape of the bale is better for transport or storage, there is still a problem with the financial cost of baling. Presses for small square bales are suitable for very small farms or almost only for hobby farms, round balers for medium-sized farms and presses for large square bales for large farms.
