Abstract

Abstract:
The dissertation deals with topics related to the LGBT+ community with an emphasis on Pride Parades. The letters in the acronym represent all individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transsexual, while the ‘+’ sign represents all the other sexual minorities who are also recognized as part of the LGBT+ community. The dissertation covers the topic of Pride Parades and the meaning that they carry for people who are part of the LGBT+ community. The main focus is on Pride Parades, which have been organized from the beginning of the 21st century to the present day in both South Korea and Slovenia, and events that took place during those Pride Parades and are of great importance to the community are also mentioned. The rainbow flag and its beginnings are explained, as it is considered one of the most important and recognizable motifs of Pride Parade. The dissertation presents the history and beginnings of LGBT+ movements, with an emphasis from the 18th century onwards with molly houses, the Stonewall uprisings and events that are important in the LGBT+ scene even today. Some achievements that members and activists of the LGBT+ community have already achieved are also covered, as well as the demands that the community still has for the society in which all LGBT+ individuals live. The position of LGBT+ people has changed a great deal compared to the past, but the LGBT+ community still has an extremely long way to go before equality for all people in all areas of life will be achieved everywhere in the world.
