This master's thesis delves into a detailed examination of the impact of Ottoman cuisine on the national identity of North Macedonia. The objective of this research is to analyze the representation of this influence in contemporary media, including social media platforms, through both qualitative and quantitative methods. The study involves in-depth interviews with experts in the field and a comprehensive content analysis of social media platforms to better understand the connection between Ottoman cuisine and the national identity of North Macedonia.The findings of this study reveal that the Ottoman period has had a profound effect on the culinary practices of North Macedonia, and this influence is still present in the way the country's cuisine is portrayed in the media. The results of the study also provide insight into how the representation of food in digital media can contribute to the shaping of a country's national identity. Social media platforms, in particular, play a significant role in disseminating culinary information, and the study suggests that they can have a profound impact on a nation's identity. This master's thesis makes a valuable contribution to our understanding of the relationship between food, culture, and identity in North Macedonia as well as an in-depth analysis of the impact of Ottoman cuisine on North Macedonian identity and suggests that understanding the culinary heritage of a nation is critical to comprehending its cultural and national identity.
