The aim of the master's thesis is to create a design for a Geography Reading Badge to be implemented in primary schools across Slovenia. This would broaden students' geographical horizons while improving their reading skills. The master thesis is divided into theoretical, empirical and applied parts. Part one defines the concepts of reading, reading motivation and reading literacy. The history of the Reading Badge and its importance for students is given. A list of recommended literature for the Geography Reading Badge, including literary and professional works, is drawn up in connection with the curriculum. To help the Geography Reading Badge tutors, there are also worksheets to check students' knowledge of the books they have read.
Semi-structured interviews were conducted to understand the professional perspective on the implementation of the Geography Reading Badge. They were conducted with the geography teachers, the librarian and the subject advisor, who praised the idea of a geography reading badge and gave their opinions and improvements on the implementation of the badge.
