Abstract
Pregledali in analizirali smo literaturo, napisano v slovenskem in angleškem jeziku s prosto dostopnim celotnim besedilom.

Title:Newborn care during the COVID-19 epidemic : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: We first became aware of COVID-19 infecions at the end of 2019. As infections increased, an epidemic was declared, but it had an impact and had repercussions on all life around the. Epidemiological measures have been put in a place to prevent the spread of infections in all areas, including in maternity wards, at birth and later in newborn care. The possibility of having a attendant at the birth has been removed, visists have been limited o reven abolished, and questions have beed raised obout feeding the newborn in maternity ward. Purpose: Describe the care of a newborn during the COVID-19 epidemic. Methods:A descriptive research approach was used to review the scientific and professional literature on newborn care during the COVID-19 epidemic. Wr reviewed and analysed the literature written in Slovenian and English, with the full text, freely available. We searched the DiKul search engine, CINAHL, Science Direct and Medline database fort he literature between May and November 2022. Results: Many studies have shown that the epidemic has had a profound impact on the overall birth, postnatal care of newborns and mothers. In some places, changes have been introduced that have not had a positive impact on breastfeeding and the bonding of the newborn with its parents. Immediate skin-to-skin contact after delivery and exlusive brastfeeding up to six months of age are recommended, regardless of COVID-19 infections. Discussion and conclusion: Our literature review found that the COVID-19 epidemic left consequences that did not have a good impact on newborn and mothers. Despite the fact that no COVID-19 infection has been detected through breast milk or after skin-to-skin contact, fear anc ignorance persist. New research would be needed including in countries where research has not yet been carriend out, and awareness raising among health professionals about the importance of breastfeeding, skin-to-skin contact, the presence of a companion and visits in the maternity ward.
