Abstract
Magistrska naloga Via Koper raziskuje potencialne pristope arhitekturnih posegov v historično mestno jedro Kopra, glede na različne stopnje degradacije v mestu. Mestu in njegovim uporabnikom predstavi tri različne faze možnih pristopov posegov prenove v tkivu historičnega mestnega jedra.

Title:Via Koper - Conceptual project of the activation of a cross route across the historic city center of Koper.
Abstract:
Via Koper, the master’s thesis, examines possible methods to architectural solutions in Koper’s historical city center, taking into account its various degrees of decline. It responds to contemporary architectural and urban planning practices that have emerged in Koper over the last two decades as a result of political will, and it invites reflection on various strategies for revitalizing and upgrading the city, which is necessary for developing its historical identity. The thesis focuses on contemporary problems in Koper’s historic city center and surrounding areas, emphasizing the housing crisis and the effect of privatization and interventions customized to private investors. It critically analyzes three chosen places, emphasizing the significance of cultural legacy protection, which has not been properly conveyed due to disrespect and misunderstanding. Furthermore, the thesis emphasizes the shift in urban life that is driving the lower socioeconomic classes out of the city center as a result of tourism and gentrification, resulting in a lack of programming diversity and the physical decline of certain parts of the historic city center. The Via Koper project aims to restore a primary urban connection that has deteriorated in content by creating three typologies of public spaces. Three content generators are interpolated into the historic city center in different ways, depending on the specific situation. The project offers the city and its users three phases of possible approaches to renovation interventions in the historic city core.
