Abstract
Razprava in zaključek: Dve hipotezi sta bili potrjeni in dve ovrženi.

Title:The meaning of postpartum debriefing : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Although women and couples often prepare for birth, not much of attention is given to the postpartum period. That is why it is important to establish postpartum care which includes postpartum debriefing. This would give women an opportunity to process their birth experiance with the help of a professional. Purpose: Purpose of this diploma work is to explore the need for postpartum debriefing, how many women talk about their birth experiance and with whom. Purpose is also to help health workers undertstand the women's needs so that they can help them postpartum in the best way they can. Methods: First, a literature review was conducted with sources from the databases Medline, Science Direct, CINAHL, Pubmed, Google scholar and DiKul. Then a questionnaire was made based on the literature review and the four hipotheses were formed. The questionnaire is an original work and was not based on any other questionnaires. Furthermore, an analysis of the results was performed with basic descriptive methods. Results: Questionnaire was fully completed by 1762 women. Most of the women who completed the questionnaire were aged between 26 and 30 years (39 %), the lowest proportion of women were aged below 18 years or over 46 years. 87 % of women answered that they did talk about their birth experiance. Among those who did not talk about it, 87 % of them wished they would have. People who were most desired to talk to were friends and family. Among those who did not talk about birth experiance but wanted to, a midwife was most desirable to talk to. Like expected, most of the women rated their first birth as medium hard. Among women who rated their first birth as exteremly hard or traumatic many of them still decided to have more kids. Discussion and conclusion: Big desire and wish for the conversation about birth experiance confirmed our hipotheses. Most women like to be heard and listened to, especially when it comes to a big life events such as birth. It is important that with a talk with health care professional - midwife – women get empowered and understand what was happening during birth. It is important to do further research on the topic which would help us further evaluate importance of postpartum debriefing.
