In my dissertation, I presented the social role and position of first ladies in the United
States and their impact on society. I have studied the development of the function of
first lady from the beginning of the United States to the present day, their formal and
informal influence and role in presidential decision-making and also in other political
decisions. At the same time, feminism and the influence of feminism in the political
space are presented.
The election of the President of the United States has been and will always be resonant
around the world, and even then more attention is directed to the USA First Lady. In
2020, when there were elections and a decisive battle between former president
Donald Trump and current Joe Biden, there was a lot of talk about former US First
Lady Melania Trump. At that time, Slovenia also appeared in the American media
several times.
Although US’s first lady is one of the most resounding, the role of first lady is important
in the US and elsewhere in the world. A better understanding of the role of first ladies
is important for the Slovenian political space and for the countries of the modern world,
as it helps with knowledge of the importance of the function of first lady, not only as the
president's wife.
