Abstract

Title:Analysis of the suitability of the selected aircraft for air and parachute operations and anti-hail clouds seeding
Abstract:
After several decades of air, parachute and anti-hail clouds seeding operations, Maribor Aviation Center needed a slightly larger and, above all, more powerful aircraft, with which the aforementioned operations could be carried out more quickly and efficiently. Mainly due to the cost of purchasing an aircraft, it is necessary to properly evaluate potential candidates, based on the performance and characteristics that each aircraft can offer us in a specific operation. In the thesis, we defined the requirements that an aircraft must have for air, parachute and anti-hail clouds seeding operations, and based on a review of legal regulations, a comparison of the characteristics and capabilities of three selected aircraft (Piper PA 34 200T Seneca II, Cessna 208 Caravan, Beechcraft King Air C90 ) and the aircraft that is currently used for the needs of specialized operations (Cessna TU206G) and the complexity of pilot training, determined, whether any of the analyzed aircraft is suitable for the purchase of Maribor Aviation Center. We found that none of the above would be an ideal replacement for the currently used aircraft, as the purchase of a Beechcraft King Air C90 or Cessne 208 Caravan, despite its good performance, would not be reasonable or possible due to its high price, Piper PA 34 200T Seneca II is a twin-engine aircraft of similar capacity and size, with which the Maribor Aviation Center would generate significant costs by retraining pilots, which are necessary to carry out specialized operations.
