Abstract

Title:Lowering peak power with the help of solar power plants and auxiliary systems
Abstract:
Electrical energy produced from renewable sources represents around a third of all produced electricity in Slovenia. Energy produced from photovoltaic power plants represents only a fraction of that, but its share is consistently rising. In regards to the current trends, guide lines and goals set by the government it is expected that the photovoltaic power plants will play a more important role in electrical power system. Integration of solar power plants in said system will be increasing in difficulty with their rising share, as production is subjected to the weather conditions. In these theses multiple ways of supplementing the photovoltaic power plants are such as use of aggregates and batteries are presented in order to reduce the peak power usage of larger consumers in electrical power system. Calculations are based on data from Photovoltaic Geographical Information System (PVGIS) and fifteen minutes readings of power usage of industrial consumer, from which an effect that suggested systems would have on peak power usage is estimated. One of the main criteria for successfulness besides amount of peak power reduced is also if it is economically feasible.
