The main purpose of this master's thesis was the synchronic and diachronic presentation of noun declensions in the local dialect of Opatje selo, one of the western spoken languages of the Karst dialect of the Littoral dialect group. The second purpose was to help teachers and students by making them aware of and to prevent the interference in the use of the literary language by juxtaposing the differences with the literary language. Since Opatje selo is a research point in the Slovenski lingvistični atlas (Slovenian Linguistic Atlas, SLA T106) the newly collected material is a valuable addition to the existing one. We used standard dialectological methods. In order to obtain material for the analysis we transcribed the existing material for Opatje selo, that is an incomplete record of Tine Logar's Vprašalnica za SLA (SLA Questionnaire) from 1954, literature from nearby karst villages for comparison, but mainly we obtained it through our own field work. With the Vprašalnica za SLA’s help, we designed our own questionnaire and illustrated the material for it. In order to determine the morphological peculiarities of each local speech it is necessary to know its phonological-accent system, therefore we described this at the beginning as well. At the same time, we identified possible accent and voice changes in the last seventy years. The place itself is also presented extra-lingually in the introduction.
