| Opomba: | ABSTRACT: At the beginning of my thesis, I wrote something about the author Vjekoslav Majer, since his private life greatly influenced his literary work, so knowing his biography is important for understanding the novella whose characters I will analize. In the third chapter, I wrote about the novella in Croatia between the two wars because it was a special period in all spheres of life, including literary art. In the fourth chapter, we are introduced to a novella whose characters are the subject of my master's thesis. At the beginning I present a short summary for easier understanding, then I talk about the chronotope, the infantile narrator by which this novella is special, the language used in novella, the diary as a literary genre and finally about the characters. In the next chapter, I present the theoretical framework of characterization, and then I begin to deal with the analysis of Ana, Franjo, Mina, Fulir, and Perica. I tried to present the characters through their behavior, thoughts, feelings, position in society, their relationships with other characters based on their dialogue and Perica’s observations. / KEYWORD: Croatian literature, novella, the infantile narrator, spatial settings, time settings, literary figures, Vjekoslav Majer |
