Abstract

Title:Human trafficking as a result of the armed conflict in Ukraine: the response of the neighboring countries of Poland and Moldova
Abstract:
Human trafficking is considered a global problem that is receiving increasing attention. There are more and more state and non-state actors that are trying to find the right approach to preventing and solving the problem of human trafficking. Countries and non-governmental organizations have adopted many mechanisms, such as various documents, laws and conventions, to curb human trafficking. In my master's thesis, I also analyzed factors that influence human trafficking, including armed conflict. The Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 was condemned by the international community. It caused a wave of refugees, with Poland accepting the largest number of refugees in the EU, and Moldova accepting the largest number of refugees by population. I made a comparison between the response and mechanisms adopted in both countries and their role in preventing trafficking in human beings, especially women for the purpose of sexual exploitation. Even today, non-governmental organizations and volunteers, who are directly involved in the prevention and protection of potential victims of human trafficking, play a very important role. The research proved that membership in the EU helps significantly more in the fight against human trafficking, which includes the activation of the TPD directive.
