Public procurement represents a relatively important part of the gross domestic product. Public procurement represents a large part of the spent national budget. It acts as a generator of economic growth and can therefore influence production and supply in the market. At the same time, it can also represent one of the important tools for achieving the most economically-oriented goals possible.
The bachelor’s thesis aims to analyze and present public procurement in healthcare institutions, specifically at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana and the University Medical Centre Maribor before and during the epidemic.
The comparative method was used for the research. Secondary data were processed. They are available on the website Electronic Public Procurement of the Republic of Slovenia e-JN and the Public Procurement Portal of the Republic of Slovenia.
It was ascertained that the epidemic affected public procurement in the years 2020 and 2021. Because of the increased number of infections, they also needed new rooms and equipment that were suitable for patients.
The thesis refers to the analysis of public procurement in healthcare during the period of the epidemic because only this period enables us a detailed overview of how the epidemic affected public procurement. The ascertainments of the thesis contribute to public procurement participants as a starting point in formulating plans for implementing public procurement in emergencies, such as an epidemic.
