Abstract

Title:Role of Roman Baths on Slovenian Territory in Lessons on the Topic of Romans in Primary School Grades 4 to 6
Abstract:
In the master's thesis, we have tried to examine the difference in the experience and evaluation of spas and baths between three different generations (students, middle-aged people and people over 60). The key objectives we were trying to achieve were to find out how often people visit bathing places in Slovenia, which types of bathing places are the most visited, what they need to have or look like to attract people's attention, and what is the main reason for visiting them in the present and what was the main reason in the past. We also tried to find out what each generation's perception of Roman baths is, which they prefer – contemporary or antique ones, what modern and ancient baths have in common or how they differ, and to compare different generations' creativity and innovation in playing the role of "architects". The syllabus for Society in fourth and fifth grade gives the guidelines that pupils should primarily acquire ideas about the past and learn about the life of people in the past. We have focused on the life and importance of the Romans, and the impact of the Roman baths on the history of mankind. In the theoretical part, we have presented the Romans' way of life, the development of the Roman baths, and the importance of baths on Slovenian territory from antiquity to the present day. We have focused on their evolution, their founders, their apperance, who they were intended for, how they differed throughout the historical periods and what role they have played. We have presented and compared life in antiquity, the Middle Ages, and the modern era (people's habits and their lives in general), the importance of personal hygiene and hygiene in general, and how baths has influenced this.
