Abstract
Predstavljene so pristojnosti in dolžnosti zdravstvene stroke na področju preprečevanja nasilja v družini in oris formalnega okvira obravnave žrtev nasilja v zdravstvenih ustanovah.

Title:The Role of Healthcare Professionals in Identifying and Managing Cases of Domestic Violence against Women
Abstract:
This master thesis aims at discussing the role of healthcare professionals in identifying and managing cases of domestic violence against women. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the concept of violence and on various theories related to the causes as well as to the consequences of domestic violence against women. The discussion draws attention to the importance of healthcare professionals’ role when it comes to identifying and managing cases of domestic violence in rural areas. The formal context of appropriate approaches to domestic violence that healthcare professionals are obliged to respect is presented as well. Their major rights, remits and obligations are taken into consideration, too. Since the restrictions to reduce the spread of Covid-19 have had a major impact on today’s society, the thesis also discusses the restrictions’ impact on the incidence of violence against women. This qualitative research relies on information obtained from collecting and analyzing non-numeral data. The survey is based on contributions of seven healthcare professionals that have some experience with various health care jobs. They work in two primary health centers in Ilirska Bistrica and Tolmin. These two primary health centers are both located in two rural Slovenian geographic areas (SURS, 2015). This research consequently aims at discussing the perception of domestic violence against women in rural areas – it discusses healthcare professionals’ gained work experience, their knowledge and learning opportunities as well as their personal views on the analyzed problem. The master thesis points that healthcare professionals often lack experience, knowledge and efficient tools when it comes to facing and identifying cases of domestic violence.
