Abstract
V prvem delu diplomske naloge smo opisali podnebne spremembe in njihov vpliv na razlivanje poplavnih voda. Opisali smo tudi vpliv naraščanja gladine morja na poplavne vode in zakaj pride do pojava naraščanja gladine morja. V drugem delu naloge smo opisali situacijo poplavnih voda in naraščanja gladine morja v Jadranskem morju ob katerem leži mesto Izola. Poplave v Jadranskem morju so odvisne od plimovanja, padavin in vetra. V večini primerov nastanejo kot posledica kombinacije vseh treh vzrokov. V zadnjem delu naloge smo opravili analizo razlivanja poplavnih voda zaradi pričakovanega naraščanja gladine morja. Analizirali smo razlivanje poplavnih voda z različnimi scenariji povratnih dob poplav in pričakovanih dvigov srednje gladine morja.

Title:Analysis of the sea flood extension in the Izola city area due to rising sea levels : graduation thesis no.: 123/B-VOI
Abstract:
In the first part of the thesis, we described climate changes and their general impact on sea flood extension. We also present the influence of sea level rise on floods and what sea lever rise means. Due to the climate changes, the temperatures rise and consequently the ice caps are melting, these processes are recognized as one of the causes for sea lever rise. The most important cause for sea level rise is thermal expansion. Thermal expansion is a physical characteristic where water molecules, because of high temperatures expand and occupy a larger volume. It is also becoming evident, that extreme weather events are getting more and more frequent and are, among other problems, causing devastating floods. The second part of the thesis described the flood situation and sea lever rise in the Adriatic Sea, where the city of Izola is located. Flood situation in the studied part of the Adriatic Sea is dependents on the tides, rainfall, and wind. In most cases floods are created as a combination of all three causes. In the last part we made an analysis of the sea flood extension by considering different scenarios of return periods and different levels of sea rise. We found out that the sea level rise will have a strong influence on intensity and extension of floods. Extreme floods on Slovenian coast will occur much more frequently.
