Abstract
Zaužijejo največ pečkatega (31,8 %), jagodičastega (30,6 %) in eksotičnega sadja (24,7 %).

Title:
Fruit intake of pre-selected group of recreational athletes
Abstract:
The aim of our work was to determine dietary habits related to fruit consumption in a preselected group of recreational athletes using a web questionnaire and statistical analysis. All of them participated in short-term physical activities (one hour workouts with weights and their own body weight), and some of them engage in endurance training (trail running) (27.1 %). Our group consisted of 67.6 % women and 32.4 % men. The youngest participant was 19 years old, the oldest 61, and the average age of the group was 41. Most of the group were omnivores (94.8 %), and many of them consumed vegetables and fruits daily (88.2 % and 72 %, respectively). Only 2.4 % did not consume any fruit at all. The most commonly consumed fruits were pome fruits (31.8 %), berry fruits (30,6 %) and exotic fruits (24.7 %). The most common reason to exercise is well-being. We found that our selected group of athletes consumes the recommended amount of fruit per day. Most of them consume bananas before physical activity (72.3 %) but not during or after activity. They do not consume more berry fruits than other fruits and they do not consume more fruits during an endurance training compared to a one hour workout. Athletes prefer gels/fruit energy bars/sports drinks over real fruit during endurance training.
