Introduction: Spontaneous miscarriage is the most common complication of pregnancy. Depending on the course, there are several types of miscarriage, which have a significant impact on the quality of life of women and their partners. Women who experience miscarriage often turn to emergency departments for help, where they come in contact with nurses who play an important role in their care. Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to find out how miscarriage can affect the quality of life of woman and their partner. Methods: We used the descriptive method and reviewed domestic and foreign literature in the period from 2010 to 2021. We used fully accessible articles published in English and Slovenian language, and were relevant to the topic. We used the remote access to the University of Ljubljana to browse database CINAHL,search engine PubMed, DiKul and web portal Google Schoolar. The literature search took place from November to February 2022. 15 units of literature were reviewed in more detail. Results: Miscarriage resultes in many psychosocial consequences for both women and their partners. They are manly shown as depressive symptoms, anxiety, grief, fear, despair and feelings of helplessness. Women who had a miscarriage have a poorer quality of life compared to those who have not had a miscarriage. After the event, both women and their partners want to get as much information and support as possible from healthcare professionals, who play an important role in coping with the loss of a desired pregnancy. Discussion and conclusion: Miscarriage has many negative consequencees that have a significant impact on the quality of life of women and their partners. Nurses and other healtcare professionals play an important role in looking after ther needs, providing support and information. The results show that there is still a need for training, communication skills and providing more support for healthcare professionals at doing their job,
