The main research question of my thesis revolves around the parallels between the antisemitic myth of blood libel and contemporary QANON conspiracy theory. I am researching the historical persistence of the myth and its manifestations in contemporary society. The blood libel myth manifests itself in modernity in its primary form as well as through some elements of the QANON conspiracy theory. In my research, I will be leaning on the methodology of comparative method, historical culture studies, and criticism of ideology. I apply the comparative method by comparing parralels of the two previously mentioned social phenomena. By applying historical cultural studies, I try to explain the historical social circumstances of the Blood Libel occurrences. Finally, by applying the criticism of ideology method, I am analysing the ideological perspective of the discussed myth and conspiracy theory. I am assigning occurrences of bloof libel accusations in contemporary Europe to its persistence in collective memory. The occurrence of the same myth in the Middle East can be described as a manifestation of its specific geopolitical circumstances and antizionism. I am also concluding that the QANON conspiracy theory, which is not explicitly antisemitic, is full of hidden antisemitic elements. Several other parallels between myth and conspiracy theory will be mentioned, in addition to the two most obvious, which are innocent child victims and ritual blood drinking.
