As a poet, Ivan Sadar is a representative of Slovenian modernism. In the analysis of his poetry collection Človek kakor drugi, I focused on the motivic-thematic analysis, interpretation of selected poems, analysis of metaphoric language, analysis of poem and stanza forms, linguistic-stylistic analysis, and comparison with the poems of Dragotin Kette, who was Sadar’s role model. Both used poetry as a means of expressing emotions and feelings, revealing their thoughts and views on life, but Sadar in particular was more restrained on certain subjects. He included a variety of motifs in his poems, but the ones that stand out the most are those from nature. Thus, I have classified most of the poems under the motivic-thematic category ‘mood themes and nature impressions’; other categories include religious and spiritual, family and living, love, war, special occasion, national and poetic themes.
