Abstract
Magistrsko delo raziskuje uporabo antičnih elementov v tujih in slovenskih glasbenogledaliških delih od opernih začetkov v poznem 16. stoletju do sodobnosti 21. stoletja.

Title:Antique elements in Slovenian operas
Abstract:
The Master's thesis explores the use of antique elements in foreign and Slovenian operas, from the beginning of opera in the late 16th century to contemporaneity of the 21st century. Taking over antique and mythological subjects was a characteristic of early operas of the 17th century, antique elements on the other hand appeared in the following two centuries only sporadically. The second half of the 20th century once again brought a turn in opera and the use of antique topics increased drastically. Antique topics often appeared within experimental theatre practices. Hans-Thies Lehmann named them postdramatic theatre. Many foreign and Slovenian composers use Greek tragedy and mythology as a medium for contemplating the effects of contemporary socio-political changes. In Slovenian operas, anthique topics appeared no earlier than in the 20th century. Among Slovenian opera composers, they were most frequently used by Darijan Božič and Tomaž Svete.

Keywords:opera, antiquity, Greek tragedy, Slovenian composers, 20th century
