The Master's Thesis titled The Analysis of a selection of Polish and Slovak unconventional replies based on homonymy, polysemy or rhyme represents an analysis that is a result of survey conduction. It concerns Polish and Slovak unconventional replies built around homonymy, polysemy or rhyme. The thesis describes the genre of unconventional reply while taking into consideration the wider context of phraseology and paremiology. It summarizes previous dealings with this genre in Slavic linguistics as well. The thesis explores the functioning, ways of realisation and productivity of homonymy, polysemy and rhyme in unconventional replies in the Polish and Slovak languages. Besides the analysis and categorisation of the occurrences of selected linguistic means and other mechanisms in unconventional replies, the thesis also relates the outcome of two online surveys. These were used to investigate the stability and familiarity of certain units among Polish and Slovak speakers. Alongside the analysis of unconventional replies, the thesis also shows the changes in linguistic means and other mechanisms in variants gained through survey conduction. It confirms the coexistence of some units in different forms and related genres. The appendices list the additional unconventional replies obtained through online survey conduction.
