The master's thesis attempts to outline, through the available sources, the dynamic developments on the left bank of the Ljubljanica River during the transition from the 1st century BC to the mid-20s of the 1st century AD. In addition to critically commenting on the ancient literary tradition concerning the site and its surroundings, the thesis sheds new light on the main epigraphic monuments associated with the precivil and construction phases of the Colonia Iulia Emona, while at the same time verifying the results of both older and more recent archaeological findings. The logic of the use of the space within the mentioned time interval was also demonstrated through selected sites in the area between Mirje and Kongresni trg, investigated after 2008. The main focus of the text is the analysis and contextualisation of the small finds from the structures and deposits excavated between 2018 and 2019 under the central part of Erjavčeva street in Ljubljana.
