Abstract

Title:Influence of welding parameters and protective gases on the spatter formation during MAG welding of stainless and structural steel
Abstract:
The thesis deals with the problem of spatter formation during MAG welding of the support section of a truck loading space. The welding takes place between structural steel transverse profiles and stainless steel edge profile. Welds were made in PA and PB welding positions, using different welding parameters and protective gases. The visual method was used to obtain the number of spatters formed with each weld. The results were analyzed and compared to each other to see the effect of welding parameters and protective gas on the number of spatters. We also monitored the time spent on removing the spatter and compared it with the welding time. It was found that the biggest impact on reducing the number of spatters has the choice of the protective gas. However, the different welding source settings, the cleanliness of the gas nozzle and the wear of the contact nozzle had less influence.
