In this day and age, we are connected more than ever. As such, it seems that online business networking should be quite simple for job seekers and employers alike. It is evident that many of us want to be connected to a social network in our private or business lives. Accordingly, social networks help us to obtain and exchange information, and with the help of business network connections, we can also look for employment or, if already employed, look for employment staff.
This diploma work aimed to discuss the use of online business networks when looking for a job or a new employee. The diploma work is divided into two parts: the theoretical section is based mainly on the presentation of concepts and an overview of the advantages and disadvantages of online networking and the presentation of online business networking for job seekers and employers. The second section presents an empirical study with the help of an online survey questionnaire and interviews with several employers, where knowledge regarding the effectiveness of online tools and networks was analyzed. The aim was to determine the impact of online networks on finding a job and the right employee for the company.
A survey of users’ opinions on the use of online job search tools and recruitment staff demonstrated that recognizing online networking tools is an important factor with which we can better achieve our recruitment goals. Findings in this survey may help employers, the Employment Agency of the Republic of Slovenia (ZZRS), and job seekers. Job seekers would benefit from the skills of using online networking tools in their job searches. Employment agencies or ZZRS could offer the acquisition of these skills. At the same time, HR representatives in individual companies should be able to use such tools.
